I'm Leaving July 9th

So, just so that you are all informed... I leave July 9th from SFO and land in Madrid on the 10th. From there I fly to Jerez de Frontera and will then be taking a bus to Cádiz. This is where I will be spending my first month in Spain.

I will be living in the "resedencia" (pretty much on-campus housing but way more spectacular looking than what is offered in the U.S. and only a five minute walk from the beach, oh darn!) which is at the university in Cádiz. I'll try to upload some pics and maybe some maps and weather links as soon as I can.

Anyways, this part of the program, like some of you already know, consists of language intensive classes and then weekend cultural "excursions." I will be in class from 9am-2pm Mon thru Thurs, with Fridays being dedicated solely to excursions such as: going to museums, learning flamenco, experiencing and participating in special cultural and community events, and learning about the art, history, and food of the region. Also, I'm pretty sure that for one of the weekends we go to Morocco (as a group so we will be safe and we will also be staying with local college students from a university in Morocco), which would be amazing.

This is all that I am going to write for now but I will try to keep up with it once I am there.

Love to you all!
Rachel

  1. This is fabulous! I am thinking of starting my own blog: something like "My Armchair Semester of Studying Abroad in Spain, or "My Vi-Carious Travels With Rach".

    Happy Trails, girl!

  2. Well, I'm not sure, but I think I'm onboard with this blog. I thought this was through FaceBook, but I had to sign in with my google acct, so my name is creategoodfx, not sweet pea.

Anyway, I already sent this message to you through FB so here it is again. Let's see if it works.

This is very exciting and I'm so happy you're doing this, Rachel. I look forward to traveling vicariously through you! Have a safe trip!

    xoxo, Chrissy
